Requirements for this position include:
  • A minimum of 3 years recent coding experience in an acute care setting
  • RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification
  • Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM coding conventions, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, federal regulations and policies pertaining to documentation

The Health Information Management Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Director of Health Information Services in meeting the overall goals and objectives of Health Information Services. These responsibilities include management of the Health Information Services Department. Located at Intermountain Medical Center. Full-time, 40 hour a week position.

Minimum Requirements:

      • Must be an accredited RHIT or RHIA
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

      • Previous Supervisory Experience

IMC - Health Information Management Operations Coordinator

Job Description:


This position is responsible for coordinating the Health Information Management (HIM) functional operations and responsibilities throughout Intermountain Healthcare’s acute care facilities under the direction of the HIM Operations Manager.  As needed, this position may have assigned responsibilities in working with other Intermountain Healthcare facilities in need of Health Information Management expertise (Home Care, Rehab, etc). This position interacts on a daily basis with HIM Management teams throughout Intermountain Healthcare's acute care facilities as well as HIM staff in Rehab and Home Care Services. 

Located at Lake Park Campus in West Valley.  Full-time, 40 hour a week position.

Job Essentials:

  1. Serves as a resource to health care facilities Health Information Management departments/areas by providing expertise and guidance in operational matters and procedures.
  2. Assists in the measurement of hospitals' compliance with HIM approved best practices.
  3. Coordinates onsite insurance audits by requesting and providing access to the CDR, monitoring access, and billing for records accessed.
  4. Supports the document management process
  5. Provides quarterly consulting reviews to meet State requirement for facilities without certified managers.
  6. Responsible for receipt and maintenance of Advance Directives, Provider Signature Log,  and Angel Watch documents 
  7. Coordinates the accuracy and timeliness of the HIM Report Card submission monthly.
  8. Responsible for HIM Operations training on Stockamp.
  9. Responsible for monitoring Stockamp ROI buckets and communicating to HIM and ROI Vendor on outstanding issues.
  10. Data Steward for HIM access requests.
  11. Any and all other responsibilities as assigned by the Corporate HIM Operations Manager.
Minimum Requirements
  • Requires certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
  • Three years’ operational HIM experience is required. 
  • Knowledge of hospital Health Information Management functions and operations and medical staff organizations is required. 
  • Excellent analytical skills are required. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Personal drive and focus on measurable goals is critical to success in this position.
  • Experience working with Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Quality Management (QM) and compliance processes is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of release of information practices
  • Integrated delivery system experience preferred
